Hi, I'm Scott, founder of Flip The Review.
Like many people in the trade industry, I've experienced the pressures that come with running a business. Long hours, difficult customers, protecting your reputation and the constant responsibility of making sure every job is completed to a high standard.
The idea for Flip The Review didn't start in a boardroom-it started from my own experience.
A customer refused to pay me for work I had completed. Overnight, I found myself facing the possibility of being left significantly out of pocket, despite doing everything properly. I remember the stress, the uncertainty and the feeling of having to deal with it on my own.
Eventually, after standing my ground and making it clear I was prepared to take legal action, the payment was made.
But that experience stayed with me.
It made me realise how vulnerable many tradespeople can be. Most of us simply want to do a good job, get paid fairly and go home to our families. Yet when something goes wrong, it can quickly become overwhelming, especially if you don't know where to turn for advice or support.
When I first created Flip The Review, the goal was to help good tradespeople protect their reputation and encourage fairness by giving businesses a platform where trust and accountability mattered.
However, the more conversations I had with tradespeople across the UK, the clearer it became that reviews were only one small piece of a much bigger picture.
People spoke about unpaid invoices, legal disputes, confusing contracts, insurance concerns, financial pressures and, perhaps most importantly, the impact running a business was having on their mental health and family life.
That's when Flip began to evolve.
Today, we're building the UK's Trade Protection Network-bringing together trusted organisations, expert partners and practical resources to help tradespeople protect both their businesses and themselves.
We're proud to be working alongside organisations such as Lighthouse Charity, Mates in Mind and Andy's Man Club, as well as trusted legal, financial and industry partners who share our vision.
This isn't about replacing the incredible work these organisations already do.
It's about making trusted support easier to find by bringing it together in one place,
so tradespeople know where to turn when they need help.
We're still at the beginning of our journey, but our mission is clear:
Protecting trade businesses. Supporting the people behind them.
That isn't just our slogan.
It's the reason Flip exists.
A Personal Promise
I'm not building Flip simply to create another business.
I'm building it because I know what it's feels like to wonder if you'll get paid. I know the pressure that comes with carrying the responsibility of running a business, and I know how isolating those challenges can feel.
If Flip can help one tradesperson recover money they've owed, find the right legal guidance, protect their business, improve their wellbeing or simply realise they don't have to face those challenges alone, then everything we're building will have been worthwhile.
